Management of Pediatric Asthma & Enuresis with Probable
Traumatic Etiology
By Trent Bachman, D.C. and Charles Lantz, D.C., PhD.
The chiropractic management of asthma and enuresis of traumatic etiology
in a two-year, ten-month-old male child. In May 1987 at the age of 22
months, the child was medically examined and subsequently diagnosed with
asthma. In an attempt to control the asthmatic symptoms, two medications
were prescribed, Metaproterenal Syrup and Theodore Sprinkle. On May 20,
1988, the child was seen for chiropractic examination and evaluation
and, from that date to August 3, 1991, the child received 28 chiropractic
adjustive/manipulative treatments. Dramatic improvement of asthma and
enuresis followed chiropractic management. The application of Gonstead
adjustive/manipulative therapy and the rationale for the correction of
vertebral subluxation complex in the case of childhood asthma and enuresis
are discussed. (Reprint available in Pediatric Articles Volumes I,

The Consequences of Birth Trauma: A Case Report of Failure to
Thrive in an infant with Cephalohematoma and Congenital Torticollis
By Christine Anderson, D.C., D.I.C.C.P.
Case report of a 7-week-old male who reported to author’s office
for a cranial and spinal evaluation with a chief complaint of poor suck
with little weight gain, complicated by torticollis and cephalohematoma.
Through chiropractic adjustments of the spine and cranial sacral therapy,
the infant’s body facilitated the natural healing process by allowing
full expression of the nervous system and unimpeded cranial sacral rhythm.
As a result, the patient was able to nurse and sleep better.

Managing the Third-T for Successful Labor and Delivery
By Lisa Connors, D.C., D.I.C.C.P.
It is a scientific fact that our nervous, endocrine, and immune systems
are interconnected. A grand highway of cellular information allows these
three systems to continually “talk” to one another, sending
important messages back and forth across organs, cells, and DNA. Our
thoughts and feelings are part of the mechanisms responsible for activating
and deactivating these highways. This article addresses the Third-T in
pregnancy and provides methods for managing Third-T concerns for a successful
labor and delivery.

An Effective Drug-Free Approach to Premature Contractions
By Carol Phillips, D.C.
Premature contractions is one of the most serious complaints that can
affect a pregnant woman. The author suggests that instead of addressing
this problem with drugs that can negatively affect the mother and baby,
chiropractors can help by correcting the structural deviation which is
commonly responsible for this complication. Advice is given on how some
simple procedures (which even the partner can learn) can help restore
a pregnant woman’s balance and prevent premature birth.
